Key Lime Pie Smoothie (NO BANANA, you say?)

This healthy key lime pie smoothie is perfect for the tangy tongues in your life. And, while bananas are beloved, some people don’t like them liquified. My mother will not touch a banana smoothie or “nice” cream, no matter how much chocolate is masking the fruit.

I tend to be wary of smoothies with lots of liquid, but the frozen produce in this one thickens her right up! And that avocado. Man, it helps with the fatty texture. Ninja is my go-to for shake-the-milks (make that “vegan milkshakes,” tee-hee.) Nutribullet pulled through this time, though.

Key Lime Pie Smoothie Recipe (NO BANANA)

Serves 1, makes a little over 16 oz

  • 1/2 cup frozen zucchini chunks
  • 1 cup frozen honeydew melon (it should be green)
  • 1 cup raw spinach
  • 1 packed teaspoon lime zest
  • 1/2 medium ripe avocado
  • 4 oz. soy milk
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • Optional: stevia and/or 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  1. Blend all ingredients, preferably spinach first to ensure it doesn’t stay stringy.

Nutrition Facts: 250 calories | 5g protein | 12g fat  (1g saturated) | 29g carbohydrates (9g fiber)

As always, this recipe is cholesterol-free and high in vitamins/minerals. Come for a new healthy behavior, stay for the flavor!
